Montrose Rod & Gun Club – 2025 Event Schedule

Note:
For all events, the area where the event is held will be closed 1 hour before and 1 hour after for setup and takedown.
All events are open to the public.


Monthly Meetings

When: 2nd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Indoor Range
Join us for updates, discussions, and decisions on club operations and upcoming events.


A Girl & A Gun – Montrose Chapter

Breakfast & Bullets: 2nd & 4th Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m.
Girls Night Out: 1st & 3rd Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m.

Varmint Silhouette

When: 3rd Saturday of each month, April – September, 9:00 a.m.
Where: Outdoor Range
Fees: $20 (Men) • $10 (Ladies) • Youth 14 & under Free
Format:
Shoot 5 targets at each of 4 distances – 150, 200, 300, and 400 meters (20 total targets).
Half of the proceeds go to the top three shooters at the end of the day.


Clay Pigeon Shoot

When: 3rd Saturday of each month, November – March, 9:00 a.m.
Where: Outdoor Range
Fees: $20 (Men) • $10 (Ladies) • Youth 14 & under Free
Format:
Benchrest shooting with front rest and rear bags allowed; no caliber restrictions.
Half of the proceeds go to the top three shooters.


Skeet

When:

  • Summer: Mondays at 5:30 p.m.

  • Winter: Sundays at 10:00 a.m.
    Where: Outdoor Range
    Fees: $4 (Members) • $5 (Guests) per 25 rounds
    Details:
    Targets are launched from two houses (high and low) crossing in front of the shooter.
    Bring your own gun, ammo, and eye/hearing protection.

This is a recreational event—come out and have fun!


Trap

When: Saturdays at 9:00 a.m.
Where: Outdoor Range
Fees: $4 (Members) • $5 (Guests) per 25 rounds
Details:
A single target is launched away from the shooter.
Bring your own gun, ammo, and eye/hearing protection.


5 Stand

When: 3rd Sunday of each month at 2:00 p.m.
Where: Outdoor Range
Fees: $5 (Members) • $6 (Guests) per 25 targets
Details:
Shooters engage 5 targets at each of 5 stations for a total of 25 targets. Seven machines throw targets at various angles, simulating real hunting scenarios.
Bring your own gun, ammo, and eye/hearing protection.


Junior Program

When: October – April

  • Thursdays at 7:00 p.m.

  • Fridays at 7:00 p.m.
    Where: Indoor Range
    Cost: $1 per week
    Details:
    Started October 16th and runs through mid-May.
    A fun and challenging program for youth (ages 10+) focusing on gun safety and shooting fundamentals. The indoor range is closed to others during these sessions.


MRGC Match

When: 1st Sunday of each month at 9:30 a.m.
Where:

  • April – December: Outdoor Range

  • January – March: Indoor Range
    Fee: $10
    Details:
    Arrive at 9:00 a.m. to prepare.
    Warm months feature 5 steel targets at distances of 7–35 yards. Winter months use paper targets from 7 yards to 50 feet.
    Open to .22 pistol or rifle, centerfire pistol, and pistol-caliber carbines. Optics or iron sights may be used; holsters are optional. This is a timed event.
